24th December 2023: Quarkblitz 2k23 released
Joe Monaghan has released ‘Quarkblitz 2k23’. Using Tricob’s SDL set ‘Base of Operations’ as its base, the mod features an atmosphere influenced heavily by Blake Stone. 21 maps are featured.
14th December 2023: Disillusion of the Artist released
Another one from the TryHard Wolfers team! ‘Disillusion of the Artist’ features a chase across seven interconnected maps and has many interesting coding changes. Quite an interesting look. DOS only.
10th December 2023: The Golden Parrot: Against All Flags released
Fraggeur has released a sequel to the only pirate-themed Wolfenstein 3D mod, ‘The Golden Parrot’! Many new graphics, sounds and features have been put to use, making for quite a unique and evocative set. 30 maps are featured. For SDL.
23rd November 2023: Blazkowicz’s Text Adventure 3D released
Here’s the latest batch of madness from the TryHard Wolfers. ‘Blazkowicz’s Text Adventure’ eschews formal pixels and instead display every object, wall or enemy as text. Very interesting gameplay. It is possible to toggle between dark mode and light mode. The screenshot below depicts the light mode. DOS only.
13th November 2023: SNES: The Eisenfaust Edition released
Hydropolis has released ‘SNES: The Eisenfaust Edition’. Similar to Hydropolis’ recent ‘Jaguar’s Claw’, this set is yet another faithful adaption, this time of the SNES version of Wolfenstein 3D. Maps and graphics have been edited to fit, more pixelated, censored and condensed than most other ports. 30 maps are featured. For ECWolf.
13th November 2023: The Console Collection released
Hydropolis has collected the above set in ‘The Console Collection’ which also features ‘Jaguar’s Claw’ and the complete version of Wolfenstein 3D’s Mac port. Each set can be selected at the beginning.
10th November 2023: Castle DreamVibe released
This interesting find was recently posted on Doomworld. ‘Castle DreamVibe’ replaces 29 maps, including all of Episode 1 and 2, and select maps in Episode 3 and 6. Maps only. The player will have to supply the remaining files.
31st October 2023: Speedmapping Mania 2023 Event Thing Mod released
Here’s a concept initially thought up by Serpens. Each mapper had only three hours to make a map! Nonetheless, 14 maps were submitted and now the set has been released. An SDL set, it features different ceiling colors and music order but is otherwise, as the title indicates, a map set. Contributors include Serpens, Gerolf, Tris, Hydropolis, ReddimusVonAggrevatii, Shodan, Spookylooper, Chris Chokan, Thomas Weiling, ack, Orka, Justy Zam and Nexion. Brace for impact! Maps & EXE only. The player will have to supply the remaining files.
27th October 2023: Jaguar’s Claw released
Here’s an interesting one from Hydropolis. ‘Jaguar’s Claw’ is a faithful adaption of Wolfenstein 3D’s Jaguar port. It features that port’s unique introduction screen, episode structure and audiovisual atmosphere. Looks very solid. Be advised that, true to its origin, treasure pickups count as health! For ECWolf.
27th October 2023: Maiz Maze released
Here’s a Halloween-type set! Falcon93 has released ‘Maiz Maze’ which takes place in what appears to be fairly foreboding farmlands. Only features one map but plenty of new, evocative graphics. DOS only.
21st October 2023: The Nexperiment released
Nexion has released an experimental SDL EXE for the registered version of Wolfenstein 3D. Judging by the screenshots, the player is in for quite a bizarre trip! Can be played with any ordinary map set as well. EXE only. The player will have to supply the remaining files.
15th October 2023: Knee-Deep released
Thomas Weiling has released ‘Knee-Deep’. Taking place in the DOOM universe, the set is a self-styled reinterpretation of the eponymous DOOM episode ‘Knee-Deep in the Dead’. Six maps are featured, and the audiovisual atmosphere has been completely changed to fit that of DOOM. For SDL.
2nd October 2023: Wolfendoom with Vengeance released
Hydropolis has released ‘Wolfendoom with Vengeance’ for ECWolf. Featuring Doomguy and the movement, weaponry and other things from the DOOM universe, this set works with Wolfenstein 3D, Spear of Destiny and its mission packs (SOD2/SOD3) and Super 3-D Noah’s Ark. Interesting to see Doomguy horsing around in Castle Wolfenstein!
29th September 2023: Des Mannes bester Freund released
Orka has released ‘Des Mannes bester Freund’ which features plenty of dog-headed enemies! Tackling various canine antagonists in addition to other guards, the set features many new graphics and sounds along with new music. Gerolf contributed six maps, with Justy Zam and Thomas Weiling contributing one map each. 21 maps are featured, as the mod is based on Spear of Destiny. Many new changes are featured, including in-game messages being accompanied by images. For SDL.
24th September 2023: Crude III: Season of the Bitch released
Thomas Weiling has released the third installment of the ‘Crude’ series. ‘Season of the Bitch’ uses ‘OVERKILL’ as its base, and features that mod’s God mode artifact, dual-colored floors and ceilings (boundary effect), an extra added weapon, animated objects and more. 5 new maps are featured, most of which feature X-rated imagery though there is also a slight Halloween vibe to the whole thing. For SDL.
24th August 2023: Super Shareware Wolf – Lost Levels released
Orka has released a mod for shareware Wolfenstein. It contains 10 new maps and new graphics and music. No coding changes are featured.
22nd June 2023: The Untoten released
Ozeki has released ‘The Untoten’ for LZWolf. 10 new maps are featured in seamless flow along with a number of new graphics.
15th June 2023: WolfPlus released
Cabo Fiambre has released ‘WolfPlus’ for ECWolf. It features 10 new maps, very much in the style of the originals.
24th May 2023: Out for Blood released
Cabo Fiambre has released ‘Out for Blood’. It features 9 new maps and a host of graphical changes but is very much in the original style. For LZWolf.
19th May 2023: Kommissbrot released
Ozeki has released ‘Kommissbrot’ for LZWolf. 60 new maps are featured in seamless flow. Very much in the original style.
7th May 2023: TFS 4.0 updated
TFS 4.0 has been updated due to a missing gold key in map 19. The patch can be found at ModDB.
16th April 2023: B.J. Blaze and the Castle of Death released
TheSaiyanHog has released ‘B.J. Blaze and the Castle of Death’. Changes include animated objects and a new episode selection. The set is very much in the original atmosphere. For ECWolf.
11th April 2023: TFS 4.0 released
Tris has put out ‘TFS 4.0’! Essentially a freshened-up version of his 2000 ‘TFS 2.0’ mod and being dubbed Eisenfaustian Bargain Edition, many new graphics and sounds are featured along with a brand new palette. 21 maps are featured. Updated 7th May due to a missing gold key on map 19.
9th April 2023: Oldfartenstein Final Version released
Roughly one year on, the full version of ‘Oldfartenstein’ is finally ready! It now features three full episodes and a special bonus map. The many new coding changes include externally sourced sounds and music with an entirely new soundtrack, all enemies, sprites and walls being brand new and more extravagant features such as animated floors and walls, a special sepia-type graphics filter that can be switched on and off and much more. There are also ports available for Linux and Ubuntu. Many people worked on the project, including Atina, Nexion, Serpens, Orka, ReddimusVonAggrevatii, Gerolf, Ryu-sama, Justy Zam, Tris, ack, Thomas Weiling and AstroCreep. Quite an ambitious effort! For SDL.
24th March 2023: Searing Heat released
Big guy has released ‘Searing Heat’ for LZWolf. Featuring 10 maps, the set is heavily influenced by ‘Castle Totenkopf SDL’ and features extra graphics made by doomjedi. The many new features include multiple textured floors and ceilings, in-game messages and realistic movement.
9th March 2023: Operation Reinhardt released
Ozeki has released ‘Operation Reinhardt’ for LZWolf. 30 maps are featured, with some new graphics also being featured. The final boss is Reinhardt Bock, also depicted on the title screen.
8th March 2023: WOLFENSTEINWORMHOLE released
Maize Machines have released ‘WOLFENSTEINWORMHOLE’. Three new maps are featured along with a handful of new graphics. DOS only.
6th March 2023: Crude 2: The Flaccid Solution released
Here’s the latest from Thomas Weiling. A follow-up to previous year’s ‘Crude’, the set features only three new maps along with many changed graphics and sounds, some of which were voiced by Thomas himself. An SDL mod, no coding changes are featured.
19th February 2023: DOSn’t Everybody? released
Thomas Weiling has released a DOS mod entitled ‘DOSn’t Everybody?’. Inspired by Justy Zam’s recent efforts, it is also a micro-mod featuring just 4 maps. Some coding changes are present, though the mod itself is based on a cancelled 2006 mod called ‘Wolfram’ for which the coding was done by Dean Horton. Some new sounds and graphics are also featured.
18th February 2023: Coming of the Resurrection released
Justy Zam has released another micro-mod, which merges together the atmosphere of two of the most beloved Wolf3D mods: ‘Spear Resurrection’ and ‘Coming of the Storm’. Only one map is featured along with minor coding changes. The joint atmospheres suit each other well. DOS only.
11th February 2023: Eins, Zwei, Drei! released
Another micro-mod from Justy Zam! ‘Eins, Zwei, Drei!’ features only 2 maps and a host of audiovisual changes along with minor code edits. Looks pretty good. DOS only.
4th February 2023: Office Hours released
Justy Zam has released a micro-mod entitled ‘Office Hours’. 4 maps are featured, two of which were contributed by ReddimusVonAggrevatii and Thomas Weiling. Many new graphics are featured along with minor coding changes. DOS only.
31st January 2023: Passage of Darkness released
Ozeki has released another LZWolf set, ‘Passage of Darkness’. 18 new maps are featured along with a host of new graphics.
19th January 2023: Castle Solingen released
Ozeki has released ‘Castle Solingen’ for LZWolf. 12 new maps are featured.
