28th December 2008: Unused Image Pack

Alvin has sent in a pack of unused images and sprites that he no longer uses. They are for general use and includes some weapons, a Boss and a Status Bar. (499Kb) Please give Alvin credit for anything used.


24th December 2008: Absence SDL Version Released

Havoc has released an SDL version of ‘Absence’. This means that this excellent mod is now Vista-compatible and the music plays on XP without having to use VDMSound.


24th December 2008: Maps For Klooni

There are 2 mapsets for Klooni released by Megabyte. Both are very well made. The first is Monthly Maps for Klooni – 3 levels, and the other is Demonoid – 10 levels. Both sets of files need Klooni to play and need to be extracted to the Klooni folder. Also needed to play is either DOOM2.WAD, PLUTONIA.WAD or TNT.WAD from the original Doom II or Final Doom.


23rd December 2008: End Of Destiny Christmas 2008 Christmas Level(s) Released

As promised, Steve has released a new End of Destiny level (or 2? 3???) for this Christmas! So far, I’ve played a lot of level 1 and it looks quite promising. As with the original EOD game, it requires a lot of thought to beat.

The December 2008 Dome award goes to Thomas Weiling for ‘W.O.L.F.’. it has very well made levels. Credit also goes to Dean Horton who did the code changes.


21st December 2008: Hotel Romanstein Gold Edition (SDL) Released

Mr. Choi has released the final version of ‘Hotel Romanstein Gold Edition (SDL)’. Set in a hotel scenario, the 60 levels are extensive and well made. Virtually all graphics and sounds have been replaced and with the new music, it all fits together very well. Please note that most of the actors are sparingly dressed.

8th December 2008: Ghost Tower v1.02 Released

As a special Christmas treat, Paal has released ‘Ghost Tower v1.02’. ‘Ghost Tower’ includes the hard to access third secret level from ‘The Tower’ upgraded with the engine, features and graphics from ‘A Doll’s House/Ghosts’. The level is a complete game in its own right and features 6 floors. There’s more info and the download at Poet’s Ghost Tower page

4th December 2008: W.O.L.F. Released

Thomas Weiling has released a new mod called ‘W.O.L.F’. The 60 levels are well made and nicely decorated. Most graphics have not been changed and the original Wolf3D feel remains. Code changes were made by Dean Horton and include changed ceiling colours and level names displayed at the start of each level. This is a very good set and will especially suit those who prefer the original game.(Updated Dec 5th – E2L2 mapping bug fixed).

26th November 2008: New Lego Wolf3D Video

LegoWolf3D has uploaded another video. It’s pretty cool for in the Pac-Man level, you actually get a power-up where you get to eat the ghosts.

26th November 2008: Hotel Romanstein – Gold Edition Demo (SDL) Released

Mr. Choi has released a demo version of ‘Hotel Romanstein – Gold Edition (SDL)’. There are 6 well made levels, the first level of each episode. The style and feel is very similar to the earlier released shareware sets but as this is for the full version, there are more actors and other objects and these are well designed. The new sounds fit in very well. You can view a set of pictures, but please note that some actors are sparingly dressed. The final version will have 60 new levels.


17th November 2008: The Making Of Absence

Havoc has put ‘The Making Of Absence’ online. It’s quite comprehensive and will show you how Absence was developed, and also set out what sorts of things you should consider when creating a game yourself.
There’s also an offline version at Havoc’s Wolfenstein3D Page. A windows port for Absence (based on Wolf4SDL) will be started soon.

15th November 2008: Return Of Dragons Released

Venom Games Inc. has released a new mod called ‘Return Of Dragons’. There are 60 extensive and well made levels. Most of the graphics and sounds have been changed and the resulting medieval feel is quite effective. The new music is well chosen and fits well. Code changes include new helpart and endart and higher health/ammo limits.

3rd November 2008: Justin Released

Rampage Games Inc. has released a new mod called ‘Justin’. There are 21 levels, some are quite large but others are fairly small. Most of the graphics and sounds have been changed and while it retains some of the Spear feel, it also has its own atmosphere. Some levels need pushwalls opened to complete them.

29th October 2008: Haven Mapset Released

Here’s a mapset made by members of the Wolf3D Haven Forum. There are 4 extensive levels, and are made for the registered Wolf3D set. Jayngo, Valts and Schabbs contributed. Text files included. Needs the full version of Wolf3D to play.


21st October 2008: Ghosts: A Doll’s House Add-on Released

Paal Olstad has released ‘Ghosts: A Doll’s House add-on’. The 16 levels are well designed and decorated and many were made by others. All graphics, sounds and music have been changed and while it retains the Wolf3D feel somewhat, the mod also has an atmosphere of its own. New music was contributed by Tricob. Code changes include a missile launcher, Plasma gun and breakable objects. As with ‘A Doll’s House’, Paal’s last mod, the game requires a lot of thought to play. Updated Oct 22nd to V1.10 due to a mapping bug (it was not possible to finish the game on the two lower difficulty levels).

Paco has posted another Wolfenstein related video on YouTube. This one is called ‘Wolfenstein Film Ben Affleck’ and lasts for 1 min 58 sec.


20th October 2008: Kill Him – Good Old Days Released

PicNic has released ‘Kill Him – Good Old Days’. It has 5 well made levels of a fair size. There’s a mix of original and changed graphics and as the title suggests, the original Wolf3D feel is retained well. Code changes include increased ammo/health limits, reduced boss strengths, bosses don’t drop keys and deathcams removed.


20th October 2008: Spear Of Toti Source Code Released

Toti has released the source code for the ‘Spear Of Toti’ mod. It includes coding for new weapons.


19th October 2008: Castle Verdemoldt Released

Alvin has released ‘Castle Verdemoldt’. There are 6 levels that are well made though the first 3 are quite mazy. There’s a mix of original and changed graphics and sounds and new music has been added. Code changes include four keys. It all fits well together and keeps the Wolf3D feel. Alvin plans to eventually make 16 levels for this mod.


19th October 2008: W3dMapTx Updated

Matthew Barich has updated ‘W3dMapTx’. It’s a program written in C# that will randomly mix up the different textures for stone textures (like Gray Stone), so you don’t have to do it yourself. This can make things a lot easier with level designing, and also ensures a uniformly random distribution. It works with Mapedit saved maps. Be sure to read the readme.txt file first. This version replaces the one released in July 2007.

Here’s a collection of icons put together by Alvin. Some of these come from several different projects, some come from the original Wolf3D, and some were made by Alvin.

13th October 2008: Scourge Of Lambereth Released

JM has released ‘Scourge Of Lambereth’. It is a modifed version of ‘Scourge Of Lammy’ which was released in Feb 2006. It has 17 levels, including some that are modified maps from the original Wolf 3D. There are source code changes like level name at “Get Psyched” screen, seamless levels, new helpart and endart and a new title screen. There’s also some new walls, enemies and sounds. 

As with the original ‘Scourge of Lammy’, the source code has been released for general use though if people use it, they need to mention it in the credits.

Alvin has sent in a new set of pics of a boss enemy that he made. It doesn’t have a name. 


11th October 2008: WolfenDie Released

Here’s a mod from Vasili R. It was made in July 2004 but has just been found again. Although unfinished, it was originally meant to be a far larger project, there are 9 large levels (no secret level) that can be quite challenging at times. Many have at least one boss. However, there’s plenty of ammo and health around and they are all beatable. Most of the graphics and sounds have been changed though the Wolf3D feel still remains. Code changes are basic and include increased ammo/health limits and changed ceiling colours. 


1st October 2008: MOHA Update

PicNic tells me that he plans to release MOHA some time in October.

It’s full title is ‘Medal Of Honor Airborne’.


29th September 2008: The Spear Of Toti Released

Toti has released a new mod called ‘The Spear Of Toti’. There are 21 levels and each one has a different type of scenario, some are set outdoors while others are set indoors. The changed graphics, sounds and music fit well together and though the Spear feel is retained, the mod has a feel of its own too. Source code changes include textured floors/ceilings, weather effects, animated objects, an extra weapon and a rocker launcher. 


27th September 2008: Dome Award – September 2008

The September 2008 Dome award goes to Havoc for ‘Absence’. it’s an example of a very good all round mod, and in particular has a large number of complex code changes, many not seen before. 


21st September 2008: Halo Hand Drawn Weapons Sprites

Here’s a set of 4 pics of Halo hand drawn weapons sprites. They are still in progress and not yet finished. They were sent in by Z. Franz.


10th September 2008: Planet Nexion Released

Nexion has released ‘Planet Nexion’. There are 5 extensive and well made levels and virtually all graphics and sounds have been changed. As the title suggests, the mod is set in the future and has sci-fi scenarios. Code changes include Directional Sprites, Outside Atmosphere and Helpart. 


9th September 2008: Absence Released

Havoc has released ‘Absence’. The 18 seamless levels are well made and cover a wide range of scenarios. Virtually all graphics and sounds have been changed. There are many complex code changes like buying implants to improve weapon strength, switching to emergency power, passwords, diaries, shock barriers and exploding barrels. The log disc feature is very impressive too and helps to create more of an ‘action role-playing’ game rather than a straight shooter game. It all blends together very well. New exe added Sept 10th – guards were made a little easier to beat.

19th August 2008: A Doll’s House v2.00 Released

Paal Olstad has released ‘A Doll’s House v2.00’. This new version fixes a bug that occurred when the game was not played with DOSBox.

Richter Belmont and Mac Mendoza have released an updated version of ‘The Lost World Part 1: The Dark Orthodox’. The Mouse Menu problem has been fixed and some weapons have been changed around. Please note that saved games from the previous version will not work with this one. This version replaces the one released July 31st.


18th August 2008: MOHA Maps Update

Latest news on MOHA (Medal Of Honor Airborne) is that more levels have been completed.

PicNic tells me that he’s now done 50% ( 15/30 ) of the maps.


18th August 2008: The Hunt For Von Hauer Released

Serpens has released a new mod called ‘The Hunt For Von Hauer’. There are 5 extensive and well made levels and although there are some graphics changes and customized floor/ceiling colours the mod keeps the original Wolf3D feel. There is a text file included. Needs the audio files from the registered Wolf3D game to play.

17th August 2008: Wolfenstein Forever Update

Barry Christian is working on a new mod called ‘Wolfenstein Forever’. There are 35 levels plus one secret level planned. Bosses will be Dr. Schabbs on level 12, Otto Giftmatcher on level 21, Hans and Gretel Grosse on level 34, and finally Hitler on level 35. There will be a storyline featuring all those characters in one episode. Four levels have already been completed.


17th August 2008: Kenny Boss Sprites

Secret Agent Jonathon and The Gaming X team has released the sprites from 2 Kenny bosses for general use. They are the Mega Officer and Dr. Shrines. Please give credit to Gaming X if they are used.

12th August 2008: New Game By Rampage Games Inc.

Here’s a message from Secret Agent Jonathon:
“Rampage Games Inc. is currently making a game response to Gaming X’s Kenny, their project’s name is Justin, and it’ll be almost like Kenny in a sort of way. Rampage Games Inc. has no current release date yet, but there will be more information said later.”

Tricob tells me that the source code for v1.22 of “Wolfenstein 3-D: The Deluxe Edition” is now available. A text file is included that describes the new options available in the file VERSION.H.


3rd August 2008: Kenny Released

Gaming X has released a new mod called ‘Kenny’. There are 20 new levels of a fair size that are made quite well. Most graphics and sounds have been replaced and there’s new endart and demos. The Spear feel remains somewhat, but the game also has an atmosphere of its own.

Mark Jaskolski has released 2 Wolfenstein to ROTT converter programs. They basically convert Wolfenstein levels and graphics up to data files which can be used to play those levels on Rise of the Triad.


31st July 2008: Kill Him 3 Announced

PicNic has announced he is making another mod in the Kill Him series, This one will be ‘Kill Him 3’. There are many features being considered and the current list includes:
– Exploding Barrels ( can kill yourself and also the enemies )
– Animated Objects ( both that block the path and that you can walk through )
– More Objects
– More Walls
– 1 new weapon and the ammo for the weapon
– Floor and Ceiling Textures
– Fog


31st July 2008: The Lost World Part 1: The Dark Orthodox Released

Richter Belmont and Mac Mendoza have released the final version of ‘The Lost World Part 1: The Dark Orthodox’. The 20 consecutive levels are quite extensive and well made. Three of the levels were made by Valts. Virtually all graphics and sounds have been changed and there are many advanced code changes including textured floors/ceilings, earthquake effects, and extra weapons (including reloading). It all blends well together and the game has quite a good medieval feel.


31st July 2008: WolfDX Demo – v1.22 Released

Tricob has released Version 1.22 of “Wolfenstein 3-D: The Deluxe Edition”. It features updated textures, new Static Objects, a “T For Teen” screen, updated wall patterns, removal of sound glitches, and numerous bug fixes. Wall, floorcode, and object placement remains the same in both maps, although the object and wall types are somewhat different. All saved games from v1.10 should work with this release.

Wolfenstein3D Fan, who is currently working on the MOHA project, tells me he has changed his name.

He will now be known as PicNic.


26th July 2008: Return Of Dragons Demo Released

Joshua Waight has released a demo of his upcoming set ‘Return Of Dragons’. As the title suggests, the mod has a medieval feel. The 30 levels are quite extensive and done well and there are lots of secret areas to explore. There are many new graphics, sounds and music. There are many code changes too, including new helpart, rescuing prisoners provide health/essence, weapon swaying, magika essence splatters from damaged enemies, new enemy toughness and a different effect to the MLI cheat It all seems to blend well together and easily has enough there to give an idea of what may be seen in the final version. 


25th July 2008: The Lost World Part 8: Hell Unleashed (SDL) – Test Version

Richter Belmont and Mac Mendoza have released a test version of their upcoming mod ‘The Lost World Part 8: Hell Unleashed’. There are 2 well designed outdoor levels and apart from the large number of graphics and sounds changes. there are a number of advanced code changes including weapon reloading, textured floors/ceilings and in-game messages. Made using SDL and is Vista-compatible.

18th July 2008: More MOHA Screenshots

Wolfenstein3D Fan has sent in a set of 13 screenshots from his upcoming set ‘Medal Of Honor Airborne’. Two other projects have been cancelled. These are ‘1946 Still World War Two’ and ‘Operation Submarine’.


16th July 2008: New ‘Play Wolf3D On Vista’ Section

Windows Vista is becoming more common nowadays so I’ve started a ‘Play Wolf3D On Vista’ section. As well as showing an easy way to run DOS sets with Vista, it also lists some Wolf SDL port sets that can be played straight from Vista without DOSBox.

12th July 2008: Boesenstein Updated

Vincent has released a modified version of his recently released shareware set called ‘Boesenstein’. In the new version some of the Hitler/graffiti walls have been removed, some rooms around the shower bath in floor 2 have been rearranged, and there are more dogs on floor 7 (the level is called ‘Hot Dogs’). Also, the shower sprite image has been made better. This updated version replaces the one released July 7.


9th July 2008: Episode 1 Speed Run Package

Matt Stath has put together a Speed Run package for the first episode of Wolfenstein3D. The package includes 9 saved game files, a high scores table (CONFIG.WL1), a scan, a time chart of records, maps, links, and info. This package works with the shareware version of Wolf3D v1.1.


8th July 2008: Stopandthink_stein Released

Brian Kory has released a 19 level set called ‘Stopandthink_stein’. As the title suggests, this is not a basic shoot ’em up mod, but a series of puzzles and it requires a lot of thought to complete each level. It uses John Bucksnort’s Istanbul mod as a base and most of the graphics from that are retained. A hint file is included. 


7th July 2008: Boesenstein Released

Vincent has released a new set for shareware called ‘Boesenstein’. There are 9 new levels that are extensive and well designed and decorated. Most of the graphics and sounds have been changed, some from other mods like Halloween, Christmas Wolf, Lost Episodes etc, and some were made by Vincent. The lightly dressed SS from Hotel Romanstein is also used. The resulting mix keeps the Wolf3D feel intact somewhat but also gives the mod an atmosphere and theme of its own. 


5th July 2008: Chrono – Spear Of Destiny Levels Released

Chrono has released a compilation of 21 levels for the registered Spear Of Destiny game. It can be played on every difficulty level, and it’s been made to match the environment of each of the original levels. They are extensive and very well made. Text file included. Needs the registered Spear Of Destiny game to play.

1st July 2008: Resistant Updated

Warthower has released an updated version of a new TC called ‘Resistant’. There’s more ammo and a few bugs were removed. One of two weapons you got with cheating is now available ‘free’. Original version was released June 18th. There’s a project page (in the German language) at Resistant.

 


25th June 2008: WolfDX Source Code v1.10 Released

Tricob has released v1.10 of the source code for “Wolfenstein 3-D: The Deluxe Edition”. The source code changes support the game’s new enemy, along with the two new Interactive Objects.


23rd June 2008: WolfDX Demo Updated

Tricob tells me the WolfDX demo has been updated with two new interactive objects, a new enemy, an updated Level 2, and a few graphical corrections. Corrections to the brown walls were done by SpriteMaker. Needs to be played with the WolfDX demo released June 17.


18th June 2008: Resistant Released

Warthower has released a new TC called ‘Resistant’. There are 13 new levels of a fair size and they are well designed and decorated. Most of the graphics and sounds have been changed and blend well together and the result is quite a moody medieval type atmosphere. The changed music also blends in well. There are many code changes and include textured floors and ceilings, outside atmosphere (rain, star sky), no score/live system, one new enemy type (a butcher with a retarded AI), destructible objects (e.g. hanging flesh, pinboards on walls), gun bobbing and a crosshair.


18th June 2008: WolfDX Source Code Released

Tricob has released the source code for v1.00 of “Wolfenstein 3-D: The Deluxe Edition”. A brief text file called “WolfDX Src.TXT” is included.


17th June 2008: Return To Castle Totienstein Released

Toti has released ‘Return To Castle Totienstein’. There are 24 levels, mostly of a fair size. There’s a mix of original and changed graphics and sounds but the original Wolf3D feel remains. Source code changes include textured floors and ceilings, increased ammo limit, new endart and a rocket launcher. Toti tells me he’s started work on a new project based on Spear Of Destiny.


17th June 2008: WolfDX – 2 Level Demo Released

The two-level demo of the WolfDX mod is now available to the public. This version uses the Wolf4SDL code, and should have full sound and music in Windows XP, Windows 98, and Windows Vista. It has three replaced tunes, a new Credits screen, lots of hi-res graphics, Hint Bubbles, Interactive Objects, and several other features. The first level of this mod is an update of E1L1 of the Community Map Pack release. Both levels were done by Tricob.


15th June 2008: Wolf3D Fan Art Posted

Here’s a drawing of Hans that was sent in by Piotr M last November. At the time, at 12.3Mb, it was too large to post on my server. However, Matt Stath has since kindly offered to reduce it to under 3Mb thus allowing it to be posted. The size of the drawing has been reduced to help maintain quality.


10th June 2008: Mac-enstein Second Encounter SDL Version Released

Andy Nonymous has released an SDL version of his ‘Mac-enstein Second Encounter’ mod. This new version is enhanced by the use of Ripper’s Wolf4SDL engine, having improved digitized sounds and higher video resolution, plus a new color palette. It allows the music to be played on Windows ME and XP without the need for DOSBox or VDMSound. It is also Vista compatible. There are 30 well designed and well decorated levels. The graphics, sounds and music fit together well, and give a good emulation of the mac version. This is quite a good set from Andy and will especially suit those who haven’t played the mac version before. Text file included. 


10th June 2008: Wolf3D Nintendo VB Box Art/PVB Coding Competition

Here’s some box art Dan Szymanski has made for a future Wolf3D Nintendo VB version. Currently, there’s a coding competition being held at www.vr32.de, so hopefully somebody will enter a version of Wolf3D for the Nintendo VB.

28th May 2008: Dome Awards – May 2008

This month’s Dome awards go to Raziel for ‘Castle Grom’, and to KFH Games for ‘Klooni’. Both are examples of very good all round mods. 


25th May 2008: More Klooni Content

Megabyte from KFH Games has started his own map in a month project for Klooni. He is going to release a new map for his mod each month.

25th May 2008: Earth Anomaly – A Klooni Mapset By Serpens

Serpens has made a 10 level mapset for Klooni v1.2. It is called ‘Earth Anomaly’ and has very well made levels. They fit very well with the Klooni scenarios. Two other episodes of levels are planned. Needs Klooni v1.2 to play.


25th May 2008: Klooni v1.2 Released

Codetech and Megabyte have released ‘Klooni v1.2’. It is a Doom to Wolf3D conversion that brings as much of the Doom gameplay to Wolf3D as possible. There are 6 episodes and the levels are very well made. Virtually all graphics, sounds and music have been replaced and along with the many code changes, the resulting Doom atmosphere is very realistic indeed. A number of improvements have been made since the previous version was released and are listed in the enclosed text file. Requires either DOOM2.WAD, PLUTONIA.WAD or TNT.WAD from the original Doom II or Final Doom to play.


23rd May 2008: Return Of Dragons Music Pack

Here is the music that Joshua Waight is using for his ‘Return Of Dragons’ project. All the music was made using midis of the band, Nightwish, Anvil Studio, and DarkOne’s IMF Tools Version 2. All songs are in IMF form for easy upload into any Wolf3d project.


21st May 2008: Catacombs Released

This shareware mod is dated March 2006 though I’ve not seen it before. It’s by Hell Knight and it is called ‘Catacombs’. There’s only one new level but it’s quite extensive and adequately decorated. Most graphics have not been changed though there are new actors’ and weapons. No new sounds.

12th May 2008: Textures Pack Released

AlumiuN has released a pack of more than 50 textures from an abandoned Wolfenstein mod. Also included is a set of 5 sprites for a MP weapon and these are shown in the pics. They are for general use but please give credit for any that are used. 


11th May 2008: Castle Fomarestein New Project

Paco’s next project is a mod called ‘Castle Fomarestein’. Also working on the project is his cousin Victor. The mod will be partly based on drawings done by Paco.

8th May 2008: Silencer (v2) Demo Released

Here is a working demo of Redeemer’s first real mod for the Wolfenstein game. It is called ‘Silencer (v2)’ and has all new graphics by Redeemer, loads of new levels (mostly by his brother but a few by himself). There are also loads of new sounds, features, and goodies. This demo has one episode of well designed levels but the final version will have 3 episodes. Text file included. 


8th May 2008: Mutants Strike Again Released

Wolfenstein3D Fan has released ‘Mutants Strike Again’. Although there’s only one small level, it’s quite intense and very atmospheric and features several different mutants. The MOHA exe is used and among the changes are textured floors and ceilings.


8th May 2008: Wolfenstein3D’s Sweet Sixteen

To celebrate Wolfenstein3D’s recent 16th anniversary (it was on May 5th), 3D Realms has on their news page some pics of a recreation of the episode 3 boss battle done in Lego! Also available is an old piece of video. It’s a TV interview from 1992 by Byron Harris for NBR with Scott Miller & George Broussard of Apogee as well as John Romero (then of id ). It’s at 3drealms.com.


6th May 2008: MOHA And Other Things

Wolfenstein3D Fan tells me that he has put all the MOHA screenshots in ONE album. Also, click on the thumbnail for 5 new screenshots of MOHA. Lastly, he tells me that his upcoming TC ‘Nazi Revenge!’ has been renamed as ‘Revenge!’.


4th May 2008: Castle Grom Released

Raziel has released the original version of ‘Castle Grom’. The level design and decoration is done very well and all 8 new levels are very extensive. There’s a good mix of Wolf 3D and ROTT graphics and sounds that blend quite nicely together and there is new music that fits well. Code changes include textured floors and ceilings, seamless levels and gun bobbing. Doc file included. 


4th May 2008: Voxelstein 3D v0.101 Demo

Voxelstein 3D is an FPS game inspired by Wolfenstein 3D. The game uses Ken Silverman’s VOXLAP engine to render voxels in software. The levels in the game are fully destructible. It’s available from FilePlanet but be warned, it’s a hefty 28.2Mb.

I’ve taken off the ‘They Need Your Help’ section that was featured in the right column of the Dome News page as it was rarely updated and all the listings on there were out of date.

I’ll reinstate it again if any new ‘help wanted’ messages are received.


4th April 2008: Dome Award – April 2008

This month’s Dome award goes to Thomas Weiling for ‘The Bitter End’. It is an example of a very good ‘old school’ mod with excellent level design. Credit also goes to Dean Horton for the code changes. 


24th April 2008: Apogee Sign Contest Walkthrough Package

Matt Stath has sent me some info on the Apogee Sign contest that was abandoned shortly after Wolf3D first came out. The release of map editors appearing so soon after the game came out made the contest pointless. Matt has enclosed a package that includes a pic of the walkthrough and a scanned pic announcing the Apogee contest. Also included is a doc file with help on using Dosbox and a ‘saved game’ from episode 2 map 8 that has the walkthrough completed. Needs the full Apogee version of Wolf3D to play the saved game.


21st April 2008: The Bitter End Released

Thomas Weiling has released ‘The Bitter End’. The 10 levels are designed and decorated very well. Code changes include 400+ static objects and 150+ guards and were made by Dean Horton. There are no graphics changes and the original Wolf3D feel is retained very well. Thomas tells me the game is meant to follow the plot of Episode 3.


20th April 2008: New Project Partner Wanted

Ken O’Brien is looking for a partner who would be willing to ‘team up’ with him to make a new WOLF project. There will be a large number of code changes so any code changing experence would be greatly helpful. If anyone is interested, please email Ken at trueheart79@hotmail.com.


8th April 2008: Project: Cell Released

Raziel has released ‘Project: Cell’. He was working on it with 2 friends, E Marcos Levit and Tamir Kastiel, way back in 2002. It was thought to be lost until Raziel found it recently. There are 9 levels (no secret level) that are well designed and nicely decorated. Although there are graphics changes, the Wolf3D feel still remains and will especially suit those who like the original game. Some ceiling colours have been changed and there are some other minor code changes such as increased ammo and health limits. Text file included. 


30th March 2008: Wolf3D Enemy (Survival Mix)

Here’s an mp3, mixed by Bart Klepka, and is called ‘Wolf3D Enemy (Survival Mix)’. ‘Enemy Around The Corner’ is featured, along with some WW2 recordings of Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms speech and the BBC’s announcement of Hitler’s death.

18th March 2008: The Final Fight 2 Planned

James Shain is planning a follow up to his last mod ‘The Final Fight’. It will be ‘The Final Fight 2’ and is expected to be based on the Spear levels format with at least 20 levels. So far, James has put together a collection of music that is likely to be used.


16th March 2008: Another Midi File

Here another midi sent in by Paco. It’s ‘La Banda Del Capitan Canalla – La Loba Feroz’. It lasts 2 minutes 58 seconds and it’s quite a funky tune.


6th March 2008: Midi Collection

Here’s quite a large collection of midi’s. Many of them are for Wolf3D, but some are for ROTT, Hexen, DOOM and other games. They were put together by Shane.


5th March 2008: Wolf3D: The Deluxe Edition Updated

Tricob has released a patch for ‘Wolf3D: The Deluxe Edition’. This update fixes problems with the pistol and knife, so these weapons are now much easier to use in the game. It also corrects the images of several treasure sprites. An Adlib sound is updated, and the VSWAP has two new tree images. For more info on this set, please see February 12th post.

28th February 2008: Wolf 3D SNES Version Video

This Wolf 3D SNES version video shows BJ wearing a beret/army uniform in the briefing scene. You can see it near the start of the video. The game play features the whole of the first level.


17th February 2008: Absence Screenshots

Here’s a set of 2 screenshots taken from Havoc’s upcoming mod ‘Absence’. They show a storage and weapon research area of the ‘Beta Labs’.


13th February 2008: Hand Drawn Shotgun Sprites

Here’s another set of hand drawn sprites from Z. Franz released for general use. They were created for a DOOM styled shotgun to be used in the ‘DOOM: Death Doesn’t Wait’ mod but a different set were eventually used.


12th February 2008: Wolf3D: The Deluxe Edition Released

After starting work on a WolfSDL port of the same game, Tricob is releasing his unfinished DOS version of ‘Wolfenstein 3D: The Deluxe Edition’. This release features hi-res images, new treasure items, new Adlib sounds, weapon images from the Jaguar version, lots of Mac graphics, interactive objects, and several other code changes. This hi-res update is also downward compatible with the original 60 levels. The 60 levels come mainly from ‘Wolf3D Community Mapset’ which includes levels made by Tricob, Dean, Thomas Weiling, RonWolf, WL Hack and myself. 


10th February 2008: Machine Gun Sprites

Here’s a set of hand-drawn sprites that are suitable for use as a machine gun or chaingun. They were sent in by Z. Franz and are for general use. Please give credit if they are used. 

     


10th February 2008: The Western Wall I Updated

Bugs were recently found on levels 9, 10 and a few later levels of ‘The Western Wall I’ mod by Spifferaneous. These have now all been fixed, and access to the secret level from level 7 has also been fixed. The whole mod has now been checked and no further bugs were found. 


4th February 2008: MOHA Update

Wolfenstein3D Fan has started working again on his ‘Medal Of Honor Airborne’ project. Most of the recent work has been on levels and graphics.


1st February 2008: Weltgericht Updated

Mega Luigi tells me that the ‘Weltgericht’ mod had a bug on level 8. This has now been fixed and a new version has been posted. For more info on this mod, please see Jan 22 posts. If anyone is already on level 8, please send a saved game to Mega and he’ll replace it with one from the new version.


1st February 2008: KFH Games Files Update

KFH Games have recently released the following files:
Klooni – A Doom clone (a Doom to Wolf3D conversion that brings much of the Doom gameplay to Wolf3D). Doom II or Final Doom is required to play. Version 1.1.
WolfSignOn – Creates palette independent signon screens for Wolf3D/SoD. Version 1.2.
Both available from KFH Games.

27th January 2008: DOOM: Legions Revisited Update

Drew McCauley (Insurrectionman) of Crack Software is working on a new mod called ‘DOOM: Legions Revisited’. It runs on the new Wolf4SDL engine and is basically an addon to DOOMLOH, but much improved. There are also new enemy bosses.


26th January 2008: Dome Award – January 2008

22nd January 2008: Weltgericht Released

Mega Luigi and Mario Maniac have released ‘Weltgericht’. There are 20 seamless levels that are extensive and well designed/decorated. Virtually all graphics have been changed as have the sounds and music. There are many code changes which include several new enemies, artefacts, extra keys, teleporters, exploding objects, timer display and textured floors/ceilings. It all blends well together.


22nd January 2008: New ChaosEdit Version Available

Chaos-Software have made available a new version of ‘ChaosEdit’. It’s preRelease v1.26 and now supports the Wolf4SDL palette format. Among other changes are the orientation of floor and ceiling textures have been corrected to reflect the orientation used in DarkOne’s/Adam’s tutorial. It’s at Chaos-Software.


21st January 2008: Escape From Reichstag Released

Joe M has released ‘Escape From Reichstag’. The 20 levels are mostly quite small but there are many graphics changes and some music changes. The exe is from ‘Danger Zone’ and among the changes are ceiling colours, seamless levels and new helpart and endart. 


17th January 2008: Spriters Needed For Wolfenstein 3D Invasion

Here’s an email received from Zdude regarding spriters: “This is Zdude. I am asking that you put in information about a Wolf3d Doom mod for the skulltag port.
The mod is called ‘Wolfenstein 3d Invasion’ and it uses the invasion gamemode from skulltag. Right now, we need spriters to create multi-directional angles to Wolf/Spear bosses like Schabbs and Hitler. I am providing a link to the proper page on the Skulltag Forums.
Anyone that is willing to create the requested sprites will be given proper credit.


14th January 2008: DOSMenu Set-up For Super Upgrade Pack Levels

Andy Nonymous has sent in a zip which contains a DOSMenu configuration for running the Wolf 3D Super Upgrade Pack levels in a more user-friendly format than the Wolfmaster 2.0 menu system.
Directions for setting it up are in the README.TXT file. Even without setting it up, the menu can be run just to check out the contents of the Super Upgrade Pack. Andy tried to get as much up-to-date information into the menu as he could find.
Under DOSMenu, all of the pertinent add-on information is available on the same screen, and the game documentation is a keypress away.


12th January 2008: Annotated Files For The Final Fight – Episodes 5 & 6

Peter has sent in the annotated files for ‘The Final Fight – Episodes 5 & 6’. This is the last installment. There are saved games from each level of the two episodes and the storylines.

Activity on the ‘ROTT Editing And Modding Forum’ has increased in recent weeks. Wolfwhips tells me there are posts on compiling the ROTT source code and a multiplayer ROTT guide.

8th January 2008: Coding Help Wanted

Here’s an email I received from Wolf-Maniac, who is requesting help mainly with coding: “I’m Wolf-Maniac. I’m making a mod to Wolfenstein, but i can’t modify my mod same as I want. Can you post news on your site about seeking a help by me? My mod has got a fantasy-medieval feel, I’ve got some sprites, but the main problem is the coding. I can’t understand that, really. So could somebody help with the coding and if possible, graphics in a fantasy theme?“.

5th January 2008: Team Aardwolf Mapset Demo Released

The members of Team Aardwolf have released a 12 level demo. All the levels are extensive and are by RonWolf, Valts, Thomas Weiling, Fireboy and myself. Code changes are by RonWolf and include seamless levels, map defined co-ordinates for things such as floor/ceiling colours and ammo/health values, ingame messages, up to 200 actors and 500 static objects per map. Text file included. Will especially suit those who prefer original Wolf 3D graphics.

1st January 2008: Bones Alert v13.95 Demo Released

Eric Lin has released a 14 level demo from his upcoming add-on ‘Bones Alert v13.95’. The levels are on episodes 1 and 2 and are mostly very complicated levels with lots of secrets while some are fun levels. Among the contributors are ack and Dr. Chainsaw. There are some minor graphics and code changes but the main aim is to keep the original Wolf3D atmosphere intact. Text file included. Episodes 3 thru 6 have been blanked out for copyright reasons.
