30th December 2020: Merry Crisis released
Another Christmas mod! This time, it’s for LZWolf and made by MysticalMist. 6 levels are featured in ‘Merry Crisis’ and many new graphics and sounds appear. Snowy landscapes, candy-colored archways and plenty of snowmen make for quite an atmospheric setting. Updated 10th January 2021 (v1.5)


27th December 2020: The B.J. That Stole Xmas released
The Try Hard Wolfers team are at it again, this time with a Christmas mod. ‘The B.J. That Stole Xmas’ features 3 levels and many new graphics are featured. Gameplay tweaks include having to collect gifts in order for levels to be completed. A very fun set. DOS only.


25th December 2020: Untergang released
Team Straycats has released ‘Untergang’. Featuring 19 levels, often in an abstract and challenging fashion, the set also features a number of coding changes. Watch out for rogue columns chasing you! Team Straycats is made up by Nexion and Atina together with Serpens, AryanWolf3D, Wolf3DGuy and ReddimusVonAggrevatii. For SDL.


21st December 2020: Another Boring Map Set released
Thomas Weiling has released ‘Another Boring Map Set’. Featuring 60 brand new levels and coding changes such as 3D directional sprites, extra added enemies, increased health and ammo, Teleport and God Mode artifacts, the set is quite extensive. An SDL mod, the coding was done by AlumiuN.


28th November 2020: Wolfemdom released
LSH-SPAIN has released ‘Wolfemdom’. An X-rated spicy set, it is based on doomjedi’s 2007 mod ‘Femstein’ and features plenty of scantily clad women and an overall aura of sensuality and passion. Many new graphics and sounds are featured. 15 levels long. DOS only.


25th November 2020: Pac-Man 3D Extendo Maze released
AstroCreep has released an add-on for his LZWolf set ‘Pac-Man 3D’. ‘Extendo Maze’ features larger Pac-Man mazes with extra added ghosts and a custom soundtrack in OGG Vorbis format.


13th November 2020: Wack-O-Ween released
Here’s another one from ReddimusVonAggrevatii. ‘Wack-O-Ween’, a Halloween-themed set, features 4 new levels and tons of new graphics and sounds. The new graphics depict a classic Halloween atmosphere featuring zombies, police cars and even aliens. Quite a good set. DOS only. Updated 28th November 2020.


9th November 2020: Wolfenstein 3D HD released
AstroCreep has released an LZWolf set where Wolfenstein 3D gets yet another new coat of paint. All six episodes are featured with new features such as light levels, scaling and high-resolution graphics and sounds. As an added bonus, the Second Encounter from Mac Wolfenstein has been added as Episode 7 making for a total of 90 levels of classic fun.


8th November 2020: LZWolf First Ever Open Invite Mapset released
A collaborative effort for LZWolf, this map set was organized by AstroCreep and Dunkelschwamm. Contributors include Linuxwolf, Orka, Gerolf, MINOTAURiii975 and Phade in addition to AstroCreep and Dunkelschwamm. At least 17 maps are featured, some of which take advantage of the many features LZWolf has to offer.


16th October 2020: The Mind of Evil released

resistance-rat has released ‘The Mind of Evil’. Based on Spear of Destiny, new features include extra added enemies, an extra weapon, intermission screens, 3D directional sprites and changes to floor- and ceiling colors. 21 levels are featured. For SDL.


11th October 2020: Teh Mawd Wif No Name released
The Try Hard Wolfers team have released ‘Teh Mawd Wif No Name’. Featuring only one level and a host of new graphics and sounds, the mod is intended as a parody/homage to the legendary 1993 game ‘The Town With No Name’. Say adios to World War II and howdy to the wild frontier for a change. DOS only.


1st October 2020: Operation: Artemis released
Nathan Alsbrooks has released ‘Operation: Artemis’. Inspired by ‘Operation: Wasserstein’, the set features many new graphics and sounds, which together with the music are in high definition. 21 levels are featured. Quite a good-looking set. For ECWolf. Updated 8th November 2020 (v1.1)


29th September 2020: Operation: Wasserstein Redux released
Lance has updated the original ‘Operation Wasserstein’ that was released for ECWolf back in January. This ‘redux’ version has many extra added features, some tweaks to maps and an overall better difficulty balance. In Lance’s words, this version is the definitive ‘Operation: Wasserstein’. For LZWolf.


19th September 2020: Pac-Man 3D released
AstroCreep has released ‘Pac-Man 3D’ for LZWolf. It features the familiar yellow protagonist in his eternal maze quest for more pellets. Though designed quite simplistic, it is still a pretty fun and atmospheric experience.


6th September 2020: Unwanted Mission Pack updated
Orka has updated his ‘Unwanted Mission Pack’, now available in a final version. Features even more new graphics and music while retaining the original atmosphere. Episode 2 is now finished as well, so there is a total of 24 levels. Quite an enjoyable set. For ECWolf.


3rd September 2020: Operation: Wasserstein II released
Lance has released the sequel to ‘Operation Wasserstein’. This time, even more features are added. In particular, the opening maps taking place in an outside environment are quite atmospheric. Many extra added weapons, enemies and dying frames are featured. The mapping is very much in the classic vein, and many original sounds are still in place, making it perfect for those who prefer the classic atmosphere yet still want to see something new. 15 levels are featured. For LZWolf. Updated 12th September 2020 (v1.5).


23rd August 2020: The Admiral’s Twisted Dream announced
Justy Zam says that his first mod, ‘The Admiral’s Twisted Dream’, is nearing completion. Described as a mixture between Spear of Destiny and the TV show ‘Star vs. the Forces of Evil’, Justy estimates that the mod will be out within a month or two.


23rd August 2020: Valts returns
Valts has returned to the Wolf3D community! He says that he now intends to finish ‘Escape from Steinberg Castle’ which had originally been released as a 5-level demo back in 2007.


6th June 2020: Ipank7000’s SOD Mapset #2 released
Ipank7000 has returned with his second mapset for Spear of Destiny. The first set was released back in June 2013, and this second volume brings another round of 21 maps of good quality. Ipank7000 recommends not using DOS as the static object and enemy limits are just below the line! Maps only. The player will have to supply the remaining files.


1st June 2020: Space Quest released
Chesnok has released a 1-level demo of ‘Space Quest’. Based upon an original adventure game from the 1980’s, a number of graphics have been replaced inspired by the game. Uses registered Wolfenstein v1.1.


30th May 2020: Wolf3D: The Damonisch Portal released
Team Fir2 has released ‘The Damonisch Portal’. It features 30 levels spread across three episodes and a handful of changed graphics and sounds. It takes on a foreboding theme of demons and zombie soldiers. Some material has been lifted from DOOM and Corridor 7. No coding changes are featured, but the ECWolf version features a custom soundtrack.


13th May 2020: Operation: Arctic Wolf update
Luke Strauman now says that all maps, source code and audiovisual aspects of ‘Operation: Arctic Wolf’ have been completed. Some more screenshots:


27th April 2020: Size Matters released
ack has released a mapset for Spear of Destiny. ‘Size Matters’ features 21 brand new levels that all follow the flow of the original game, but the maps only take up one fourth of the entire mapping grid! Beware for some compact, intense and challenging maps. Maps & EXE only. The player will have to supply the remaining files.

24th April 2020: Wolfenstein 3D The Second Encounter Editors’ Version released
Wolf3DGuy has released an editors’ version of his recent ‘The Second Encounter’ set. Should be nice for people who only recently got into modding and mapping, as many nice additions are featured. ‘The Second Encounter’ is a DOS mod.


13th April 2020: Abandon 2020 released
Thomas Weiling has revisited his very first mod, 2004’s ‘Abandon’. This version brings together all 60 available levels from 2004, including 9 levels from an older patch entitled ‘Abandon v0.0’. The original mod featured numerous floor code issues and severe lack of ammo and health pickups, but this has now been rectified. Most graphics and sounds are also more reliant on the original atmosphere than ‘Abandon’ was. Coding by AlumiuN, for SDL. Updated 23rd April 2020 & 1st October 2024.


1st April 2020: Astral Anomaly released
ReddimusVonAggrevatii has released ‘Astral Anomaly’, also listed as ‘Sputnikstein’. Only featuring two levels spread across two episodes, it is a lighthearted set but nevertheless features some interesting new concepts in terms of dying frames (guards in what appears to be suspended animation) and Schabbs being replaced by a certain colonel slinging burgers. DOS only.


24th March 2020: Wolfenstein 3D The Second Encounter released
Wolf3DGuy has undertaken the task of recasting Mac Wolfenstein’s Second Encounter for DOS. The 30 classic Mac levels are now featured with the regular Wolfenstein 3D/Spear of Destiny graphics and sounds, with a few extra additions. Interesting concept.


22nd March 2020: All Heil the Hunt for the Hidden Hitler! released
Here’s a curious set from MINOTAURiii975, the first since 2005’s ‘Gates of Hell’! In ‘All Heil the Hunt for the Hidden Hitler!’ the player must go through all sorts of rooms spread across 3 levels adorned with various Hitler decorations. For ECWolf.


14th March 2020: BJ’s Destiny released
The Torpid Rodriguez has released ‘BJ’s Destiny’. A DOS mod, it features 60 new levels and coding changes include different episode selection, a new Read This! and changes to music order and ceiling colors, along with some graphics. An old-school set in every sense of the word. 11 years in the making!


7th March 2020: Wolfenstein 3D: Hitler Secret Departament released
Step9 has released ‘Hitler Secret Departament’. A map set, it comes bundled with registered Wolfenstein v1.1 for some reason. All 60 levels have been replaced.


6th March 2020: Summer Night’s Epitaph released
Blackmore has released ‘Summer Night’s Epitaph’. It features 5 levels and a handful of features such as dynamic lighting. For ECWolf.


28th February 2020: Operation: Arctic Wolf update
Luke Strauman says that ‘Operation: Arctic Wolf’ progress is going steady, and that the engine has been tested on several different computers. Some screenshots:


1st February 2020: Thomas’ Spear of Destiny released
Thomas Weiling has released a mapset for Spear of Destiny. All 21 levels have been replaced, and most of them pay tribute to the originals. The EC/LZWolf version features a different level 18. Maps only. The player will have to supply the remaining files.


31st January 2020: Operation: Wasserstein updated
Lance has released a v1.2 patch for Operation: Wasserstein. The difficulty level was deemed too intense for some, and some mapping bugs have been fixed.


17th January 2020: Unwanted Mission Pack released
Orka has released his ‘Unwanted Mission Pack’ for ECWolf. Features new graphics and music and other minor changes such as new ceiling colors and increased ammo. One episode only, but contains 12 levels. There is also a brand-new protagonist, One-Eye Fox. Should be good for those who enjoy the original atmosphere.


10th January 2020: Operation: Wasserstein released
Lance has released ‘Operation: Wasserstein’ for ECWolf. Lance had originally begun work on the project in 1999, and some old screenshots still survive. This brand new ECWolf version features some ideas from the original 1999 set, but features many extra additions such as new weapons and textured floors and ceilings. Quite a difficult set! Updated 31st January 2020.
