Little Cherub tells me that work on ‘Guns and Glory’ has begun (although it is going slowly). Secondly, he will start on a new add-on while the source code for ‘Guns and Glory’ is being completed.

This new game will be called ‘Wolfen-Tag’, and it is based on ‘Skulltag’ for Doom. The only differences will be that it is for Wolfenstein, It will be specifically for the Doom Spear of Destiny code, and it will be 6 full episodes, of small~medium maps based on Deathmatch only without multiplayer. Credit will be given to the original creators of ‘Skulltag’, and the only things that will be used are graphics and sounds. Gameplay will be simple. Only the players, weapons, and objects from ‘Skulltag’ will be used and not the new monsters.

Here’s the complete ‘Wolfenstein 3-D Shareware v1.2’. It is virtually the same as the 1.1 version but has different map files. I’ve heard the difference is to do with the elevator to the secret level. Also, the zips for versions 1.1 and 1.4 now contain the actual game files as the older zips do not always work with Windows XP. All shareware versions are now listed under ‘Wolfenstein 3D’ in the shareware section at Add-ons – VWX.

Due to a lot of overtime hours at work as well as a lot of other stuff going on, progress has been a little slower lately than it was initially, but work on the project has resumed. Currently, all that remains to be done is less than half the maps for the game, and about 1% of the coding (due to a very small detail overlooked in the initial requests). I hope to have some new screenshots for the project before too long. In the meantime, I assure you all that it is still alive and well.

Needs the full registered version of Spear Of Destiny to play.

22nd September 2005: Sorcerer’s Wrath Update

Luke Strauman sent the following update regarding ‘Sorcerer’s Wrath’: “To Wolfenstein Fans: Well I guess I will let the secret out now on the status of Sorcerers Wrath. I bet all of you thought I had abandoned the project and Wolfenstein – well you are wrong!! I’ve been avoiding everyone in Wolfenstein for quite sometime.

Now to give you the details on Sorcerers Wrath. All weapons are 100% done. The game still has lots of work, and I mean lots. I’ve been doing graphics and source code while having to keep everything under wraps. I will be getting in touch with some of my fellow wolfers in the very near future (MCS, Brothertank, WSJ and many others). So if any of you have any questions, my website will be coming back up to date again. The mystery of the Project is over now. – Luke

13th September 2005: Image World Update

Here’s an email from Majik Monkee: “The Image World site is almost out of server space, and as a result, no more submissions can be accepted at the moment (if you already made submissions that are not up yet, they will be posted, but please don’t send any more). There has been some discussion about paying for more site space, but one of the great things about the Image World has always been that it’s a free service, both to the users and the site administrators, and a financial commitment to the site right now may not be a realistic or appealing course of action.

If we decide we cannot add more server space to the site, at very least, it will remain available as an archive of all the past images that have been submitted to this point. There has been suggestion of removing some past submissions based on “quality”, but I have done that largely already regarding what I posted in the first place, and don’t feel it’s fair to be the judge of what is and isn’t good from the viewpoint of everyone who might visit the site.

Whether the site continues to grow somehow, or remains as is, as a static resource of Wolfenstein sprites, we hope you will continue to visit and get use out of the Image World. It’s been a great experience running the site, and hopefully it will continue to be a useful tool for modding in the future. ~Majik~

8th September 2005: Standalone RPG Info

Here’s an email from Majik Monkee: “As many of you may know already, Adam Biser and I have taken a slight deviation from traditional Wolf modding to work on/complete a standalone RPG based on an entirely new engine designed by Adam. The game is called “Star Wars: Bloodlines”, and will be something like a cross between “Legend of Zelda” and “Final Fantasy”. Many of the graphics come from Lucasarts “Yoda Stories” desktop adventure, with many modifications and new graphics. The story, artwork, and maps are all completed, and currently all that remains to be done is scripting for the second half of the game. Even though the game’s engine is new, the project will be freeware when it is completed due to the borrowed nature of the graphics and some other material. The project has a site at: http://mods.moddb.com/5754/.

Graphics, sounds, and VGAGRAPH art are 100% complete, and most of the music and text files for the game have been completed as well. All that remains is the maps, and currently there are several mappers involved in the project. The coding was basically finished, but we developed some ideas later that seemed too good not to incorporate in the game, so there is more being added to it at the moment (details will have to wait until later). Several of the changes have not yet appeared in a Wolfenstein mod (at least not to our knowledge).

In the meantime, click on the thumbnail for a set of pictures of enemies/hazards you will face in the game. and also for a screenshot from the first level. More to come soon, hopefully! Still no release date is being estimated. If anyone has any questions or comments about the game, ‘medEvil’, they can email them to me at dhw_majik_monkee@yahoo.com. – Majik

I’d like to extend my appreciation to Spiritblade, who has offered to help maintain and update the Image World, and has been responsible for getting all the most recent updates up on the site! This extra help alone has been a huge weight lifted off me, and will assure that there will be regular updates on the site, even if they’re not every day (updating a site every day is a time consuming task, and nobody should be expected to do so). Anyway, that’s about it…just wanted to say how glad I am that the site is being updated again, and thank everyone for their patience! – Majik

Majik’s site is at Monkee’s Image World.

I am not sure when ‘Game Warz’ will be done.

When I come back to Wolf editing my next projects will include ‘The Pirates of Wolfenstein Sea’ and ‘Escape from Castle Catenstein’.

I will be a bit flexible about the submission quantity rules during this time, but please don’t send more than two or three per day. 27th April 2005: Help Needed For Goldeneye 64

Andrew has asked for some help with his upcoming set ‘Goldeneye 64’.

Details of what’s already been done and what’s still needed can be read below.

Greetings… As many of you know by now I am working on a mod based of the movie / game 007Goldeneye. My work is progressing at a slow rate and I am in need of help from anyone who can give me help. This is what needs to be done or is done already:

  Fog effect   Not Done
  End Level Trigger   Not Done
  Weapons   Done
  Enemies   Done
  Bosses   Not Done
  Walls   Not Done
Music   Being Worked on and Needs Help
  Sounds   90% done
  Maps   Not Done

And finally, I need a Message that appears at the beginning of the game (first level) that says:
“Byelomorye Dam, Arkangelsk, USSR, 9 years ago”
For the bosses I need 006 Alec Trevelyan (as Hitler for the armor part it could look like he is getting wounded), Jaws, The general from the train (Ourumov), Xenia Zaragevna Onatopp, and finally Mayday (as a joke inone of the secret levels). As for the walls I need the walls that look like or are from Facility, Dam, Bunker. This is for the first demo, which will be just the first 4 levels that will represent the game Goldeneye 64. Also the end level trigger will be used for the “Bungee jump”. For the end of Facility, I need a message or Read Me Text that says the lines (the rest is fate…) I am not sure what the whole thing is but I can look it up. The elevator can be used for the rest of the levels. If any one can help me in these fields it would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is ANL8000@wmconnect.com and my AOL Screen name for instant messenger is xMasterKatarnx if you would like to contact me. Thank you for listening,

Andrew

26th April 2005: Camrose Unleashed Demo Released

Here’s a 5 level demo from Col 10 and Sam and it’s called ‘Camrose Unleashed’. The levels are not that large though they are well decorated and there’s changed graphics and sounds which tend to blend together quite well. On the first level though, you get ‘disappearing objects’ at times due to too many objects in one area. Story doc file included. Later withdrawn due to unauthorized use of the actor shown in the screenshot.

18th April 2005: Monkee’s Image World Update

Here’s an email from Monkee Monkee regarding his ‘Image World’ site: “I know I said I’d reopen for submissions the 20th of this month, but after having had a little more time to myself lately and having been freed of the stress of having to keep the site up to date, I’ve decided that it’s best for overall well-being if the site be closed for submissions indefinitely. This does not, however, mean that any existing part of the site will become unavailable, though, and I hope everyone still gets some good use out of it. Keeping a site updated regularly (especially with my limited PC time) is a lot of work, and requires a lot more free time than I actually have these days. Maybe some day down the road when I’ve got less to do and I’ve completed some of the special non-Wolf projects I’m working on I’ll reopen the site to guest submissions. In the mean time, thanks for visiting!

Majik’s site is at Monkee’s Image World.

18th April 2005: Dome Award – April 2005

This month’s Dome award goes to Possum Trot for ‘Abandon 2 – Purgatory’. The level design is very good, and though there are many imported graphics, it retains the original Wolf 3D feel quite well. Credit should also go to Gary Ragland who made the exe file.

Here’s an email from Majik Monkee: “Greetings from Majik Monkee! I’ll be taking a break from doing updates at the “Monkee’s Image World” site until April 20th for a variety of different reasons. I’ve had a lot going on lately, and it’s not always possible to do everything I need to do and keep the site up to date as well. Please don’t send any submissions prior to the 20th if you haven’t already, as routine maintenance at the Image World submission account during this time period will probably cause them to be deleted. In the meantime, enjoy the content the site already has to offer, and thanks for making it a success!

Matte Software has restarted work on ‘Wolfen-Terror’ again. It is planned to be released in a week or so. Meanwhile, a new screenshot has been issued. Some of the new features that have been added in this new version are:

Here’s a beta version of a new engine for Wolf3D/Spear games being developed by Denis. I’ve checked it out with the Activision full version of Wolf 3D on my Windows ME computer and it seemed to work well. It played the game with all the music and sounds and was as fast as playing with the normal exe. By adding the parameter ‘-fullscreen’ I was able to play in full screen mode rather than in a window. There’s a doc file included which has a lot of info on the project. Ideas and suggestions are welcomed by Denis.

Game release date is aimed at Halloween 2005. The Episode 2 and 3 mods will probably be released at Christmas.

Third, I will now like someone’s assistance in the source code department in a new chain of add-ons that will go in this order:

1. Wolfenstein 2. Wolfendoom 3. Doom

If anyone would like to help out with the source code (graphics, levels, sounds if you would like) please email me. Also, for those who don’t like cartoon add-ons, I will not want to feature ANY cartoon graphics in these add-ons. Please respond by emailing me at: DakTeam@aol.com.

6th March 2005: Orb Of Calamity Update

Richard Kelly has sent the following update on his latest set ‘Orb Of Calamity’: “My upcoming TC – now titled “Orb Of Calamity” – will unfortunately not be released anytime soon. I have a *lot* of work left to do with the graphics. Since I do all my graphics by hand, it will take quite a while to complete.

The graphics “To Do” list includes sprite images for Weapons 3 and 5, new title screen, new sign-on screen, and several graphical pictures accompanied with the game story’s beginning and end. The beginning of the story will be told in the self-running demo, after the Credits are displayed and before the recorded demo starts.

However, I intend to do a simpler ten-level TC before “Orb” is complete. I really have to do so in order to prepare myself for what Orb requires of me. I haven’t created any levels in a while, and doing a TC simpler than Orb will allow me to do make new levels again. I might work with someone else in order to get it completed more quickly.

I’ve submitted a number of new images to Majik Monkee’s Image World in the meantime.

– Richard Kelly.

5th March 2005: Invasion Of The Cartoons Demo Released

The levels need to be added to a full version of Aliens Of Gold to play. See Jan 12 for a maphead/maptemp version of these levels.

9th January 2005: WSJ’s Heer Sprites Pack Released

Wolf Skevos-Jones has released a bunch of enemy sprites (called “WSJ’s Heer Sprites Pack”) to the community, so that people can use them in their add-ons/mods. They’ve been done in the same style as the guards from Operation Heimzahlung (they use the Lost Episodes guard as a base.) They’re meant to look like the “Heer” (German Army) from World War II.

8th January 2005: Operation: Mutant Strike 2 Released

Majik Monkee has released ‘Operation: Mutant Strike 2’. There are 10 straight levels that are quite extensive, well designed and well decorated. Most of the levels are by Majik and ack, but Dumscheissekopf, Arielus and myself also contributed one level each. Credit also goes to Adam Biser, who did the coding and some new music, and to Wolf Skevos-Jones for some of the graphics. Some levels have shaded ceilings/floors and there are changed sounds. The game has an ongoing story and players are recommended to read the start of it in the enclosed manual before playing.

7th January 2005: More Project Wolfgeist Pics

Possum Trot has sent in several more pics from his upcoming set ‘Project Wolfgeist’. Twenty two levels have now been completed and two more started.

Here’s a set of 3 enemy pics from the upcoming set ‘Toxisches Projekt’. It is being done by Wolfenstein 3D Fan and Mega Luigi.

4th January 2005: Operation: God Hand – Official Restart

Spiritblade has announced the restart of ‘Operation: God Hand’. The restarting date has been moved from early February to today. Help may be asked for later when the enemies have been completed. Progress on these so far is:

  • Average Enemies 5 out of 8 are completed. – Full Frames 49-50 frames per enemy
  • Mini Bosses 2 out of 4 are completed – Full frames, 14- 20 frames per mini boss
  • Actual Bosses 3 out of 5 bosses completed. Full frames – 15 – 25 frames per boss
  • Sounds/ Music 55 sounds collected for the game so far, mostly weapons, and enemy alert and deaths. And 31 out of 40 maps have music picked out for them.

4th January 2005: The Grail Of Eternal Life v 1.0 Released

Marcus Svensson has released ‘The Grail Of Eternal Life’. There are 21 levels here though I’m still playing the first, which is a very large maze. The enemies I’ve seen so far I have also seen in other sets, though there are some new graphics and good snow effects here. Looks quite a promising set. There’s a download link, and an online manual with more info, at The Grail Of Eternal Life website.

3rd January 2005: A Long Walk Back Released

Harry Mass Senior has released ‘A Long Walk Back’. There are 6 straight levels here that are well designed and decorated. It’s an ‘old school’ type addon – the levels are fast moving and atmospheric, with lots of mutants and white officers. There are some changed graphics but the original Wolf 3D/Spear feel remains. This is the first set from Harry for quite some time and it’s been well worth the wait!! The gold key doesn’t usually show on the status bar but it does open locked doors when picked up.

2nd January 2005: Operation Todpfad Update

Kyle Albert tells me that ‘Operation Todpfad’ is about 90% done. There are still about 5 maps to do and a bug to fix. Things added include Directional Sprites, Shotgun, 2 New Enemies – making 9 enemy types (Dog, Guard, SS, Mutant, Officer, Trooper, and a Gray Officer). The debug cheats will be revealed sometime after the game is released, and there will be an editor’s version also. Expect ‘Todpfad’ to be released from Mid January to Late February (depending on school work). There are several more screenshots at Kyle’s Site.

2nd January 2005: Possum Trot Addons Update

Here’s an update regarding Possum Trot’s upcoming addons. After ‘Project Wolfgeist’ is completed, Possum will make ‘Abandon SE’ together with Conner94. Possum also informs me that Kyle’s ‘Operation Todpfad’ is 90% done. The addon ‘Uber Deutschland’ will be shelved for the time being.

1st January 2005: Gothic Mayhem Released

Here’s another set from Joshua Waight called ‘Gothic Mayhem’. It’s ‘Brutal Damage’ (also released today), with a new graphic set and a brand new storyline. Weapons include the Duke 3d pistol, the Tommy gun from Blood, and the classic Brutal Damage M16. Music was extracted from The Great Wasabi’s instant classic DEAD WORLD RISING 2. (Yes, credit was given for that.) There’s also a new look for treasure. Instead of money bags, they’re crosses. Levels are as in ‘Brutal Damage’.

1st January 2005: Brutal Damage Full Version Released

The first addon release of 2005 comes from Joshua Waight and is called ‘Brutal Damage’. There are 20 levels that are quite well made though the first is a modified version of the original first level. There are some graphics changes but the game keeps the original Wolf3D feel. Text file included. This full version replaces the 10 level demo version issued Aug 4, 2004.
